If you have always wanted to try scuba diving but have never been certified, this introductory PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience is a perfect place to begin. Designed for beginners and first-time divers, this activity allows you to experience breathing underwater under the direct supervision of a qualified diving professional.
Unlike boat diving, a shore dive begins with a direct entry into the water from the beach. This makes it a convenient option for those who want to experience scuba diving without travelling by boat.
Your adventure starts with an introduction to scuba equipment, basic underwater communication signals and essential safety instructions. Your instructor will help you understand the breathing equipment and practise basic diving skills in shallow water before proceeding with the dive.
Once you feel comfortable, enter the ocean with your instructor and explore the beautiful underwater environment of Havelock Island. Discover colourful tropical fish, coral formations and fascinating marine life while experiencing the excitement of breathing underwater.
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving program does not require prior scuba certification. You will remain under the close supervision of your instructor throughout the experience, with the dive conducted within the applicable beginner depth limits.

Discover Scuba Diving Experience
Step 1: Arrival and Registration
Arrive at AquaNomad's designated dive centre at Havelock Island. Complete the registration process and required medical declaration before beginning your scuba diving experience.
Step 2: Introduction to Scuba Diving
Meet your professional PADI instructor and get introduced to scuba diving equipment, including the mask, regulator, buoyancy control device and air tank. Learn the basic principles of breathing underwater.
Step 3: Safety Briefing and Training
Attend a detailed safety briefing covering underwater communication signals, breathing techniques, equipment usage and essential diving guidelines. Your instructor will explain the basic skills required for your introductory dive.
Step 4: Shallow Water Practice
Enter shallow water with your instructor and practise essential beginner scuba diving skills. Get comfortable breathing underwater and using your equipment under professional supervision.
Step 5: Guided Shore Dive
Begin your first scuba diving adventure with a shore entry into the beautiful waters of Havelock Island. Explore the underwater reef with your instructor and discover colourful tropical fish, coral formations and fascinating marine life.
Step 6: Return to Shore
After completing your introductory dive, return safely to the shore with your instructor. Remove your diving equipment and receive assistance after the activity.
Step 7: Activity Completion

Before you dive
The rules every diver on this trip is held to. None of them are negotiable, and none of them are a surprise on the day.
Minimum age
Divers must be 10 or older on the day of the dive.
Medical declaration
All participants must complete the required medical declaration before taking part in the Discover Scuba Diving experience. Participants must disclose any existing medical conditions, including asthma, heart conditions, respiratory problems, epilepsy, recent surgery or other conditions that may affect their ability to dive. A doctor's medical clearance may be required depending on the answers provided in the medical questionnaire. Scuba diving is not permitted during pregnancy. Participants must follow all instructions provided by their PADI instructor and demonstrate the ability to perform the required basic diving skills before proceeding with the open-water dive. The activity is subject to weather, sea conditions, underwater visibility and the instructor's safety assessment.Flying after diving
Leave at least 18 hours between your last dive and your flight. Book your trip home with that gap already in it - we cannot shorten it for you.
Insurance
Bring travel insurance that names recreational scuba diving, including chamber treatment and evacuation. We will ask to see it.

Cancellation
- Cancellations made by guests are subject to the cancellation terms communicated at the time of booking.
- Cancellation and rescheduling requests must be communicated to AquaNomad in advance.
- If the activity is cancelled by the operator due to adverse weather, rough sea conditions or safety concerns, rescheduling or refunds will be offered according to the applicable booking policy.
- No refund or rescheduling is guaranteed for late arrivals or missed reporting times.
- Guests are advised to arrive at the designated meeting point on time.
Terms and conditions
- This is an introductory scuba diving experience and does not provide a scuba diving certification.
- No previous scuba diving certification is required.
- Participants must meet the minimum age and medical fitness requirements.
- Completion of the safety briefing and required basic diving skills is compulsory.
- Participants must follow the instructions of their PADI instructor throughout the experience.
- The dive will be conducted within the applicable Discover Scuba Diving depth limits.
- Instructor supervision and diver-to-instructor ratios will follow applicable safety standards.
- Touching, collecting or damaging corals and marine animals is strictly prohibited.
- Feeding marine animals is not permitted.
- The activity is subject to weather, sea conditions and underwater visibility.
- The instructor reserves the right to refuse or discontinue participation if safety requirements are not met.
- Participants must disclose relevant medical conditions before the activity.
- Participants must follow the recommended no-fly interval after scuba diving.
- Underwater photographs and videos are included only if specifically mentioned in the selected package.
